If you have a larger dog that needs a touch of elegance and warmth, this collar offers a good amount of strength for its relative size.
Brown and Brass Chain Martingale Collar (22")
Medium brown leather chain martingale collar with medium brass 3 ring assembly chain; Solid brass spots; Hand stitched at ends; 1/2" width; 22" inner circumference
I hand sew with a traditional harness stitch method using needles, thread, and a diamond awl.
The ends of the leather are skived at the rings. Skiving, or feathering, the ends of a strap gives a smooth and finished look but is also an important part of a good design.
Because the chain martingale collar needs to slip over your dog's head, you need to measure the largest point BEFORE it slips onto and over the ears. Using a flexible tape measure is helpful. The measurement around the head will be the inner circumference or inner measurement of the collar. Be careful to avoid fingers under the measuring tape. Remember that it is easier to slide a collar over the head and onto the neck than to pull it off.
